My daughter spent the night at her Grammy Meme & Papa's last night. It was nice to have some time alone with Derek to appreciate all the wonderful things that make a baby so easy to fall in love with. It is amazing how something as simple as feeding him can bond us and bring us so close. I look down at him while he nurses, listening to his patterned breathing, while holding his hand with my free hand and I am overcome with love. I think about how he just trusts me 100% to be there for him and provide what he needs to thrive - and he loves me for doing so. It is amazing to me to think that not only did my body grow these beautiful children, but it continues to grow my son (as I also did for my daughter for a full year) and will for many months to come. I thank God for all He has given us. I am so blessed that God gave us these beautiful, healthy, wonderful children & brought me to my amazing, loving husband.
This evening we went to G.G (Great Grandma) & Papa D's house to pick up Veronica. Meem wanted to visit her parents and we thought it would be nice to bring Derek over so they could see both of the kids. As soon as I walked in the door and saw my little love running around and smiling, I realized I missed her so much more then I even thought I did. Veronica is such a light in our lives. She is so smart, she amazes us everyday. It just felt so good to be back with her. While I appreciate the quiet while she is gone, I LOVE the chaos while she is around. :) The funny dances, the silly faces, the crazy cries and demands, and the beautiful songs that she sings every other word to all combine to make her my sunshine. I can even express how much I love these children and how much joy they bring into our lives.
We intended to just pick up Veronica, have a quick hello and then head out to Sam's club - but family is more important then groceries so we decided to stay for pizza at GG & Papa D's for the evening. We were lucky enough to see Kara, Payton, Meem, Big G, GG, Papa D, Melanie & Stephanie all in one night! It is so amazing to be surrounded by so much family and so much love. I love George's family like they are my own blood. I hear all these stories about in-laws and I think about how blessed I am to have married into the AMAZING family that I did.
Last week we got to spend the evening with my (bio) father (Art)'s side of my family. I don't see them enough and it was wonderful to be together and catch up. There are so many new babies over there this year. More people to love! If you are my family or friend and you are reading this - please know how much you mean to me. I feel so blessed to have all o
f you in my life. xoxoxo

Mel, Your children and family (and friends!) are just as blessed to have you in their lives as you are to have them in yours. :)
