This is George posting on behalf of Melanie. We have been pretty busy since Thanksgiving, hence no posts. Obviously the holidays are an insane time for most families with young kids (seeing as everyone and their sister wants us to cart the young'uns to their houses), but this year seemed to be especially busy.
We spent most of December preparing for the rush of Christmas; we also had a couple parties to attend. Christmas Eve at my parents house was the typical crazy party; out of the 80 or so people who were there, only one was kicked out of the house. A pretty good ratio, if I may say so.
Christmas day was very special for us this year, mainly because Veronica is at that very special age where she understands what's going on in terms of Santa and the Holiday. She knows the concept of Santa, and was very excited to put out cookies and milk for him on Christmas Eve. Of course, on Christmas day she thought that all the presents were hers, including the ones that we purchased for her brother.
New Year's was a blast as well; we let both the kiddos stay up past midnight (Curfew be damned!). Of course, we paid the price with a very disjointed sleep period the next day. Oh well, it's a special day, right? We partied with our good friends at a low-key event.
Shortly after New Year's Day we all got sick. Veronica and Melanie got it the worst; I got it the best(?) It was a very trying week; V was super dehydrated and in full-time zombie mode on the couch. I felt bad for the girl because she couldn't really tell us when she was going to be sick. It resulted in a couple very late nights and a trip to the hospital to treat her hydration. I give major props to my brother for being on call at 3 in the morning to help us out with watching D-bo. We owe him big time, that's for sure.
One unexpected result of the kids being sick was Veronica's new found obsession with Yo Gabba Gabba. If you haven't experienced the acid trip that is this children's show, I highly recommend it. From the guest stars on Dancey Dance time to the Alternative and Indie rock bands on Super Music Friend show, it is highly entertaining for kids and (sometimes) parents alike. Now we can hardly turn on the TV without V saying "yo babba" and "brobee!".
Melanie will post later about Veronica's 2nd birthday party. I'm a little gassed at the moment, so I'm going to end this novelette. Peace out.
