Joined a Gym

Last month I got a telephone call from a Gym that said I won a free all inclusive Gym membership there. It includes all the equipment, classes, childcare, tanning & an Olympic sized swimming pool that I can take the kids to anytime I want to. It also includes an hour with a personal trainer. I thought it might be a scam, but I was looking for a Gym anyway to get myself back into shape after Derek's birth, so I decided to check it out. They said it was a membership for 2 - so I called my girl friend Randi to see if she wanted the 2nd membership so we could work out during the day together. (She is also a stay at home mom.)

We went and checked it out and we really liked it. There is a slight catch and that was that we had to pay a 8.00 per month fee to cover insurance & paperwork costs and we had to pay the full 2 years in advance. Randi and I talked about it, and even if it was some sort of scam to just get more members in, it was perfect for what we needed. We both got a 2 year membership.

Let me tell you, it just feels so good to do something for myself. Everyday I take care of my family all day. It is nice to check the kids into childcare, hop on an elliptical machine and take a break from my responsibilities for others just for an hour or two. I can work out, go tanning, and even shower without worrying when the kids are going to wake up - or what time G will be home to help me.

It's about a 25 minute drive from my house, but the great thing is that it is about 1/2 way between Randi and I. We never see each other enough, and this is a great reason to get together at least once or twice a week. After having our children, we both have the same basic goals for our workouts so we have been doing a good job of motivating each other. I only have 9 more lbs to lose before I hit my 1st goal of "pre-pregnancy with Derek" weight. Then 10 more lbs to get to my "I feel so good I love my body" weight.
